Artvin/Turkey
Maral Waterfall is located in the Borçka district of Artvin, nestled at the foothills of the Karçal Mountains, close to the Georgian border. With its 63-meter cascade surrounded by lush forests, it offers a breathtaking view. It is a favorite spot for nature walks and photography. Especially in autumn, the colorful forest creates a magical backdrop for the waterfall.
The plateaus of Artvin offer cool mountain air, crystal-clear streams, and breathtaking views. Some of the most famous ones are Şavşat Karagöl, Macahel Valley, Hatila Valley, and Sahara Plateau. Here, you can see traditional wooden plateau houses and taste local natural products prepared by the hospitable villagers.
Hamsili Ekmek is a unique local dish where fresh anchovies are baked with corn flour. It is one of Artvin’s most authentic flavors, especially popular during winter.
